The new Western Sydney Airport starts operation in July. This has led to major changes to the Sydney airspace. The changes a quite major and anyone flying in the region without a detailed knowledge of the changes could put their life and the life of others in serios danger.

DO NOT ENTER SYDNEY AIRSPACE WITHOUT FIRST BEING FULLY AWARE OF THE NEW PROCEDURES AND AIRSPACE BOUNDARIES!

These changes impact everyone wishing to fly through the Sydney region. They include changes to us seaplane pilot’s favourite lane up Sydney Harbour which was R405 but now will be R407.

The changes are substantial and you my become thoroughly familiar with them. Make sure you have the latest aeronautical maps and you must familiarise yourself with the latest ERSA, particularly the AIP Supplements as they are being updated even now with the instigation date being 9th July. As well as ERSA for Sydney Kingsford Smith, Sydney Bankstown and Camden make sure you read the latest AIP Supplements, eg H84/26, H87/26, H98/26.
